Carpe Diem

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

I like to think that I’m relatively adventurous. Aside from the occasional puss-outs, I’m usually down to try anything once. My happiness isn’t derived from money, possessions, or others’ acceptance…at least not completely; there’s the occasional indulgence in sports betting, plane tickets, or a titanium bicycle. So why do I find myself so angry 4.5 days of the 7-day week?

Long bitch-session short, it’s because I’m wholly unfulfilled by what my daily activities contribute to the world. I know, I shouldn’t complain, I have a job, unlike ~8% of the working population in the U.S. But let’s be honest, complaints about jobs and education reign supreme as our economy struggles like a turtle on its back. What’s the reason for such a massive sense of dissatisfaction? People blame it on corporate America’s bureaucracy, discrimination, W, global warming, blacks, asians, jews, young, old, gay, straight, tall, short, hairy…you get my point…but it all boils down to fear and ignorance. I’m no exception, and I annoy the shit out of myself for it.

We bitch because it’s easy and doesn’t cost us much. It’s an excuse wrapped in self-righteous banter, which may or may not make it stink worse. So how I figure it, I need to just shut the fuck up and act without worrying too much about what might/can/could/would/will go wrong. I don’t like being a whiny bitch, no one should.

Youth is wasted on the young…sometimes.

I’m probably a few months late on this one, but it’s always good for a laugh…
